The World Cup trophy will arrive at the final in a Louis Vuitton trunk — for the fifth time

The World Cup trophy will be delivered to the stadium in New York and New Jersey in a trunk made for it at Louis Vuitton. The French house has again been entrusted with designing the case for football’s most coveted prize.
The front of the trunk carries a gold letter V that reads both as “Victory” and as “Vuitton.” The recognisable monogram pattern runs across the top, and the corners are protected by gold-plated brass fittings. Inside there is beige leather trim and a patch marking the partnership between Louis Vuitton and FIFA.
It is the fifth consecutive time the French company has made the trophy trunk, following the tournaments of 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022.
“For more than a decade, Louis Vuitton and FIFA have shared an unwavering commitment to excellence, united by a belief in the power of sport to inspire and bring people together,” said Louis Vuitton chairman and chief executive Pietro Beccari.
Luxury brands have long had a foothold in professional sport: Tiffany & Co. has made the Super Bowl champion’s prize — now known as the Vince Lombardi Trophy — since the very first edition in 1967. Beyond football, Louis Vuitton makes the trophy cases for the major Formula One rounds under a ten-year contract.
But there is only one World Cup trophy, and it normally lives at the FIFA Museum in Zurich — which is why the chance to make its luggage is considered a particular honour.
